Reports to: Pastor of Biblical Counseling

Summary of Role

Emmanuel is seeking a compassionate, spiritually grounded Biblical Counselor to provide Christ-centered counseling support to women navigating a range of personal, relational, and spiritual challenges. The ideal candidate will have a heart for shepherding others through the lens of Scripture, a strong understanding of biblical truth, and the relational wisdom to guide individuals and couples toward healing, growth, and restoration.

Staff will be active & engaged in the church through serving, participating in a group, attending service, and tithing. They will be spiritual leaders who actively pursue a relationship with Christ, practice spiritual disciplines, and uphold biblical standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide biblically based counseling to women, and their spouse or family when applicable, using established, certified practices and procedures
  • Support the intake and scheduling of biblical counseling cases when necessary
  • Foster the spiritual growth of Emmanuel Church attendees by connecting counselees to their next step of spiritual growth
  • Provide counsel to Emmanuel staff on issues related to counseling and pastoral care
  • Provide counsel & expertise to centralized and campus teams on issues related to counseling and pastoral care
  • When requested, receive overflow or re-directed counseling cases from Lead Pastor’s office or Pastor of Biblical Counseling
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with campus leaders
  • Communicate with campus leaders when counseling attendees of their campus, if appropriate
  • Assist in recruiting and onboarding qualified Impact Team members to support the load of counseling team
  • Assist in implementing assigned church-wide initiatives as directed
  • Other related tasks as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements

Education and/or Experience

  • College Degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Widely recognized license or certification in biblical counseling or equivalent university education in biblical counseling or relevant field preferred
  • Previous experience working in a ministry environment preferred

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with experience in conflict resolution
  • Demonstrate high levels of discretion and maintain confidentiality according to standard counseling practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational/administrative skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
  • Ability to learn and use Emmanuel’s systems (Rock, Planning Center, etc.) and learn and adapt to new technolog
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently and as part of a team as part of a fast-paced environment, in a flexible and cooperative manner
  • Self-motivated
  • Demonstrate a servant heart with spiritual maturity and sensitivity

  • Willingness to regularly participate in Emmanuel Church activities and events
  • Agreement to abide by Emmanuel Church’s Expectations of a Staff Member which include:

o   Financial support of the church with your tithe

o   Attend one weekend service each week and monthly staff meetings

o   Participate in community through small group

o   Prioritize a Sabbath (one 24-hour period of time off work each week)
